My mission to establish myself in the city had failed. Though defeated, I did not seek consolation. I had looked upon the void and was grateful, I met the Great Lack with a greater eagerness. For although it was fathomless and dark, its silhouette was a burning iridescent thing...

It was clear to me that this was the outline of a map; an uncharted continent. I knew at its center stood a palace, and within that innermost sanctum I would find the wellspring of my being.
